Blow Up That Gramophone: Scott Kelly

Tähän maalaamaani Scott Kelly- keikkajulisteeseen liittyy mukavia tarinoita. 

Tämä oli viimeinen tekemäni työ taannoista näyttelyäni varten. Näyttely koostui pääosin tilaustöistä. Pari viikkoa ennen avajaisia mulla ei ollut tilauksia, joten päätin että maalaan pitkään suunnittelemani koivumetsän. Ilman sen kummempaa suunnitelmaa sommittelin metsäaukion ja maalasin maan ja koivunrungot. Jätin keskelle tilaa ja päätin että keksin lennosta siihen jotain. Soittelin vielä Blow Upin pääjehulle ja kyselin että olisiko tarvetta julisteelle. Hän kertoi että Scott Kelly tulee keikalle ja voisin tehdä julisteen siihen. Kävin kuuntelemassa Kellyn maanläheistä musiikkia ja heti tuli mieleen että sijoittaisin Scott Kellyn koivikkooni. Ehdotus meni läpi. Minua oli pitkään viehättänyt ajatus maalata portretti, jossa kasvot olisivat jättiläismäiset suhteessa taustaan. Sovelsin ideaa ja se toimi mielestäni kuin tutka puskassa.

Scott Kelly- tauluni herätti avajaisissa eniten huomiota. Myin sen näyttelyn ensimmäisenä päivänä. Hyvään kotiin meni. Ostaja ei tunne Kellyä mutta pitää kuvasta. Ihanaa!

Here's the gig poster for Scott Kelly's Finnish tour in 2012. I painted it for Blow Up That Gramophone. I have a love/hate relationship toward birches. I find them beautiful, but I suffer from birch pollen allergy. I find the best things in life being the love/hate things, though.

Meidän bändi astuu harvoin päivänvaloon. Viihdymme pimeässä. Mutta nyt sysimusta toteemi nousee taas horisontissa.
